Monitoring and evaluation (M&E) is an integrated process of continual gathering and assessing information to make judgments about performance progress towards particular goals and objectives, as well as to identify the positive or negative consequences of activities, projects and programmes. The PDP technical committee undertakes the preparation of the Petroleum Development Plan (PDP), and monitors progress of implementation of petroleum projects proposed under the medium- and long-term plans. The key objectives of monitoring committed projects by the as per the PDP is to: 

  1. Track implementation and relate physical progress with planned targets with a view to identifying deviations.
  2. Pick up implementation issues that can provide early warning for the sector policy makers, with the intention of making timely interventions where necessary.
  3. The report acts as a continuous oversight tool for policy and regulatory interventions that may be necessary to ensure that energy demand,generation sequencing and power evacuation expand in harmony.
