Mr. Wanga has a wealth of experience spanning over two decades in senior leadership and entrepreneurial roles in the public, private and the financial services sector.

George Okeyo Wanga was appointed the Chairperson of the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) on the 17th January, 2025 by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Kenya, Dr. William Samoei Ruto, Ph. D, C.G.H, pursuant to the provisions of Section 12(1)(a), (2) & (3) of the Energy Act, No. 1 of 2019. As the Board Chairperson, and sitting at the zenith of the Authorityā€™s board leadership, his role is to facilitate effective corporate governance, strategy, oversight and offer the needed policy direction with the aim of enabling the Authority to effectively deliver on its statutory mandate and corporate performance.

Mr. Wanga has a wealth of experience spanning over two decades in senior leadership and entrepreneurial roles in the public, private and the financial services sector. In these roles, he has demonstrated strategic leadership, governance and expertise in risk management. Throughout his professional journey, Mr. Wanga has been instrumental in driving organizational growth, implementing effective credit strategies, and fostering customer-centric services. His leadership acumen and operational efficiency have significantly contributed to the growth and profitability of the institutions he has hitherto served. He holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on Operations Management and a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Economics all from the University of Nairobi.
